The award-winning talk show host, comedian, and producer is set to end her very successful and long-running show on May 26th.

Throughout the years, gifts were given to the staff for their continuity and loyalty to the show. According to Deadline, along with the gifts, the amount to be paid out to staff will be over $2million dollars. The breakdown of the bonuses is said to be distributed to senior executive employees who have been with the show’s entirety of 19 years, and others who have worked for a shorter duration.

Furthermore, employees received letters from the Warner Bros Studio where the show is taped advising them that the studio will continue their healthcare benefits for months after the show ends. Additional support for staff will include access to resume building, workshops, and free one-year memberships to LinkedIn Learning.

The American talk show premiered in 2003 on NBC studios to great reviews. It was later relocated to Warner Bros in 2008 where it continued its successful run.

However, in 2020 Ellen faced controversy in the media over allegations of ‘creating a toxic’ workplace environment for her staff.

Many employees also claimed they were subjected to unfair treatment, harassment, and bullying by three top executives. After an investigation by Warner Bros, those senior executives were all fired.

Ellen’s Game Of Games which ran from 2017 was canceled by NBC in January after only four seasons.

DeGeneres has said, “it had always been her plan to end the popular variety show after season 19.”
