The day you have been patiently waiting for, dreaming about has arrived. You have just said ‘Yes’ to marrying the love of your life and you are on cloud 9. Getting engaged is a blissful, overwhelming, emotional, and magical time.

Congratulations! You have just gotten engaged, what do you do now? Here are a few things to check off your list.

  1. Call your Family

Chances are your family has been waiting just as long as you have for this moment. Let them bask in your bliss with you.

  1. Take All the Selfies

Take as many selfies as possible with your ring and your fiancée. Chances are you are going to be so shocked and overwhelmed you will want to look back on that moment in a couple hours or days.

  1. Post an Engagement Picture

It is time to make it social media official. Pick out your favourite photos from your magical moment and post away!

  1. Celebrate!

Pop the champagne! You have just had one of the most amazing moments of your life, take a breath, enjoy some champagne, and enjoy your engagement.

  1. Insurance

Make sure you get this beautiful gem insured! While this is not the most romantic step of getting engaged, the last thing you want is for something to happen. You can easily add it to your homeowners or rental insurance.

  1. Sizing

If your ring is moving around on your finger, get it sized. You would hate to wash thousands of dollars down the drain while doing dishes.

  1. Engagement Party

Plan and engagement party. This does not need to be big or extravagant but have your family and closest friends come together to celebrate.

  1. Take a Moment

Take a breather. There is no reason to rush. Enjoy the euphoria that comes with being engaged. Let the news sink in and cherish this time.

  1. Wedding Date

Begin to think about what time of year you want to get married. Is there a significant date you are wanting to get married? Most venues book a year in advance.

  1. Venue

This is the research stage. Begin researching venues. You cannot secure a venue until you have finalized a day, so start researching where you would like to hold your wedding.

  1. Guest List

Begin thinking about your guest list. Are you wanting a small wedding or a large wedding?

  1. Budgeting

Budgeting is key when it comes to a wedding. Wedding costs accumulate quickly, and it is important to stick to a plan.

  1. Inspiration

Pinterest will be your best friend during this time. Create boards with centrepieces, dresses, and suits. This will come in very handy when you’re shopping for your big day.

  1. Choose your Wedding Party

How many bridesmaids and groomsmen do you want? Discuss who you want in your parties before asking anyone. Once you have decided you may want to come up with a creative way of asking your wedding party.

  1. Shop Shop Shop

The time has come to begin shopping, one of the best parts of planning!

Now that you have finished your post-engagement checklist it is time to enjoy the road to your wedding!
