Harris Dickinson has admitted that his role in ‘Babygirl’ was unfamiliar to him.

January 11, 2025: Harris Dickinson isn’t very comfortable with “being desired”.

The 28-year-old actor stars alongside Nicole Kidman in the erotic thriller film ‘Babygirl’, and Harris admitted that it was an unfamiliar role for him.

Harris Opens Up About Self-Consciousness and Body Image

Asked if he’s comfortable with “rampant objectification”, Harris told The Independent: “Not very … That was a very quick answer. I mean, I’ll take it with the right filmmaker.

“I’m not really afraid of showing my body and stuff. I was raised to, you know, love yourself, love your body, be proud of it.”

Despite this, Harris felt self-conscious about his appearance during his younger years.

The actor shared: “I was a really chubby boy, right? And I didn’t shed that until I was in my late teens. So I’ve always got that in my mind, and I don’t think that ever leaves you.”

Harris doesn’t feel particularly comfortable being desired – but he was “happy to lean into it” for ‘Babygirl’.

He explained: “It feels kind of strange to me, because it’s not something I’ve been particularly used to … being desired. I’m happy to lean into it for the right film, but it’s not something I’m comfortable with.”

Meanwhile, Nicole hopes ‘Babygirl’ proves to be a “liberating story” for women.

The Oscar-winning actress found making the erotic thriller film to be a “very freeing” experience.

Nicole, 57 – who is married to music star Keith Urban – said at the Venice Film Festival: “This is one woman’s story and this is, I hope, a very liberating story.

“It’s told by a woman, through her gaze – Halina [Reijn] wrote it and she directed it – and that’s to me what made it so unique because suddenly I was going to be in the hands of a woman with this material. It was very dear to our shared instincts and very freeing.”
