Alligator Kills Florida Woman Full Video

“Alligator kills Florida Woman full video” has been trending on Twitter, but so far, all of the links claiming to have the full video are misleading. It may be that the person originally filming was the one that ended up calling 911. You can watch the start of the attack as the alligator went for the woman’s dog and the 911 call that followed here:

On Monday, a tragic incident occurred in a 55-plus living community near Fort Pierce, Florida, when an 85-year-old woman named Gloria Serge was attacked and killed by an 11-foot alligator while walking her small dog by a retention pond. Witnesses immediately called 911, prompting a response from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. A nuisance alligator trapper was dispatched to St. Lucie County to deal with the alligator responsible for the attack.

“It was definitely a fight,” said nuisance alligator trapper Robert Lilly in an interview with WPTV 5. “We snagged him on the bottom. He never surfaced. He stayed down the whole time. We were able to get a second hook in him and a hard line in him so we could get him up.”

The FWC, in a statement to PEOPLE, expressed condolences to the victim’s loved ones and the community that witnessed the attack. The organization also highlighted the importance of public safety and its Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program (SNAP), which aims to proactively address alligator threats in developed areas while conserving alligators in areas where they naturally occur.

According to the FWC’s website, Florida is home to around 1.3 million alligators, and in 2021, nearly 9,500 nuisance alligators, described as being at least four feet in length and posing a threat to people, pets, or property, were killed in the state. Sheriff Ken Mascara of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Facebook, offering prayers to the victim’s loved ones and the community affected by this tragic event.
