“The Boys” Addresses Season Finale Plot Following Similarity to Recent Assassination Attempt

On July 17th of this year, the TV show The Boys released a statement regarding the season finale of its fourth season. The show was previously filmed and set to release between June and July 2024. However, the current event of the Trump assassination attempt made the show’s creators worried that the episode would seem insensitive. The season finale released this week originally had the title “Assassination Run.”. The episode was retitled Season 4 Finale, and the show released a statement online following the episode’s release.

“The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life during the assassination attempt on former President Trump,” the statement said, referring to the shooting that took place at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on July 13th.

The statement continued, “The Boys is a fictional series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional. Amazon, Sony Pictures Television, and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”.

However, fans of “The Boys” know the show isn’t new to dark and sometimes controversial humor. From overly graphic scenes to explicit sexual content, the show is bold when it comes to the content it displays. But, it’s all in an effort to copy the essence of the original comic series following similar stories to the TV show adaptation. So, overall the show will probably be ok after this event but it didn’t hurt to ease some nerves before a controversial episode.
