The mother of Audrey Hale, the transgender school shooter who killed six people, including three nine-year-olds, at a Nashville private school, expressed her anguish to ABC News shortly after her daughter was identified as the shooter. Norma Hale said, “It’s very, very difficult right now. I think I lost my daughter today.” She also requested privacy for her family as they come to terms with the magnitude of her late daughter’s actions.

Norma Hale’s posts on social media decrying school shootings and advocating for gun control have also emerged in the aftermath of her daughter’s massacre at the school she once attended. One post on her page in 2018 called for large-capacity gun magazines to be made illegal in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Another post in the same year urged for guns to be kept out of schools.

Police have released footage of Hale carrying out the rampage, as well as images of the guns she used. Hale left a detailed manifesto and plan for the shooting at her home and another in her car. The contents of the manifesto have not been disclosed by the police, but they believe “resentment” may have been a factor in her behavior.

Audrey Hale Real Name

Audrey Hale, 28, who was born female but is believed to have been living as a man called Aiden Hale, was a former student at The Covenant School. She opened fire at the school, shooting and killing three nine-year-olds, a substitute teacher, the head of school, and a custodian. Two police officers shot and killed Hale within 14 minutes of her opening fire.

In a statement released by the school, they expressed their grief and shock over the tragedy and their focus on healing and supporting their community. Police also revealed that Hale had planned an attack on another school but decided against it due to perceived heightened security.
