Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 is the Beautiful and Sad End of an Era
April 16, 2025 – Baldur’s Gate 3 releases Patch 8, the last update for the wildly popular Dungeons and Dragons-inspired game.
Is this our final quest?
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) released its latest and final patch on April 15th, 2025. Fans of the Dungeons and Dragons-inspired game had eagerly awaited Patch 8, and its arrival marked a momentous but bittersweet occasion. Patch 8 signalled the end of developer Larian Studio’s exploration of the Dungeons and Dragons universe, as the studio moves on to unrelated projects. There will be no sequel games nor DLC updates; BG3 is our last adventure across the sprawling world of Faerûn.
Though this is the end, fans have much to look forward to with Patch 8 and can spend many more hours exploring Larian’s epic game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 New Patch Includes 12 New Subclasses
Cross-play, quality of life updates, new modding kits, a photo mode, and bug fixes constituted the BG3 update, but the most exciting part about Patch 8 is the 12 new subclasses.
Each and every class in BG3 has gotten a new flavour. More damage, new spells, and exciting abilities, there is something for everyone. Below are all the new subclasses for gamers to enjoy.
Bard – College of Glamour
The College of Glamour Bard is all about charming friend and foe alike. Charmed enemies will obey your every command, making for excellent crowd control.
Barbarian – Path of Giants
As if Barbarians weren’t already strong enough, the Path of Giants gives them increased strength and stature. Rages will now be even bigger and better.
Cleric – Death Domain
The toll of death draws near with the ringing sound of a bell. The new Cleric Death Domain gains access to new spells and cantrips that cause painful necrotic damage and make corpses explode.
Druid – Circle of Stars
The Circle of Stars Druid harnesses the power of constellations, giving them access to three powerful new wild-shapes, including constellations of the Archer, Chalice, and Dragon.

Monk – Drunken Master
The Drunken Master is all about embracing the effects of intoxication and making enemies drunk, dealing extra damage.
Ranger – Swarmkeeper
Swarms of Jellyfish, Moths, and Bees aid the Swarmkeeper Ranger in battle, creating exciting new game mechanics as you control a little army of critters on the battlefield.
Rogue – Swashbuckler

Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
Shadow Magic Sorcerers are the new edgy kids on the block. They become deadly effective in darkness and gain new abilities like Hound of Ill Omen and Shadow Walk.
