Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus has Been Fired after a disastrous Loss on Thanksgiving Day.

November 30, 2024- For the first time in franchise the Bears have fired a coach during the regular season. Matt Eberflus has officially been relieved of his coaching duties.

In what may have been the worst display of clock management on a nationally televised primetime game, Eberflus has proven that he doesn’t have what it takes to coach in the NFL. Thomas Brown has been elevated to the role of interim head coach.

The Final Straw

Eberflus’ final moment as the Bears head coach left many scratching their heads on Thanksgiving day. 32 seconds left, Down 23-20 against the Detroit Lions with a 3rd and 26 go-to-goal situation. Eberflus in all his wisdom declines to use a timeout to either kick a field goal or draw up a play, he instead relies on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams to send a deep shot which inevitably runs the clock to 0.

He then would double down on his decision to not use the potential game-tying timeout during his postgame conference.

Matt Eberflus Fired Reactions

The Bears have consistently found new ways to lose football games all season. With Eberflus’ inadequacy as a coach shining bright in all of them. A hail-mary loss to the Commanders, a blocked field goal against the Packers, and now, this horrendous loss to the Lions.

Eberflus has been historically bad this season, even with a promising young talent in Caleb Williams. The Bears had a promising start to the season starting 4-2 through the first six weeks. Since then, they have lost six consecutive games in a row.

Bears fans are obviously pleased with the decision to let Eberflus go. He has torched yet another Bears season after such a hopeful start.

For now, Thomas Brown will serve as the interim. But speculators believe that the Bears could bring in Belichick, Ben Johnson, or even Mike Vrabel during the off-season.
