Belgian goalie Arne Espeel reportedly dies after saving a penalty shot during a soccer game.
According to this recent article from TMZ, the young Belgian soccer goalie Arne Espeel, 25, has sadly passed away after saving a penalty kick during a game this past weekend.

Espeel supposedly collapsed on the field during “Winkel Sport B’s game against Westrozebeke at Sportpark Terschueren in West Flanders Province.” The incident took place on February 11.
According to reports as mentioned in the article, “Espeel saved a penalty kick during the second half of the game and then fell to the ground. Medical professionals on site responded and tried to save Espeel with a defibrillator when the incident occurred. However, the goalie was soon transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday in hopes to determine how his death was ultimately caused. Following the announcement of Espeel’s death, the team released a statement:
“Winkel Sport is in very deep mourning by the sudden death of Arne Espeel. We wish family and friends of Arne our heartfelt condolences in this heavy loss. Football is an afterthought.”
