June 2, 2025: In a candid conversation on The Interview podcast by The New York Times, Miley Cyrus shared her personal perspective on motherhood, expressing that it’s not a path she’s particularly drawn to.
Cyrus on Motherhood: “It’s Just Not My Passion”
Cyrus likened her feelings about motherhood to her decision not to launch a makeup line, stating, “I don’t have a makeup line because I’m not a makeup artist.” She elaborated, “I feel that way about motherhood. It’s just never been something that I’ve been overly passionate about. It’s a lot of responsibility and devotion and energy, and if you’re not passionate about that, I don’t know how you do sleepless nights and 18 years of what my mom dealt with.”
Environmental Concerns Influence Her Decision
Cyrus has previously voiced concerns about bringing children into a world facing environmental challenges. In a 2019 interview, she remarked, “We’re getting handed a piece-of-sh*t planet, and I refuse to hand that down to my child. Until I feel like my kid would live on an earth with fish in the water, I’m not bringing in another person to deal with that.”
