Carlee Russell Hoax

Within this past week, Alabama nursing student, Carlee Russell: went missing, returned home, and admitted to staging the whole thing. Needless to say, this case has had the United States captivated since the first reports of her “abduction“. Today she released a statement through her attorney admitting that it was all a hoax.

The full statement reads, “There was no kidnapping on Thursday July 13th 2023. My client did not see a baby on the side of the road. My client did not leave the Hoover area when she was identified as a missing person. My client did not have any help in this incident. This was a single act done by herself. My client was not with anyone or at any hotel with anyone in the time she was missing. My client apologizes for her actions to this community, to the volunteers who were searching for her, to the Hoover police department, and other agencies as well as to her friends and family. We ask for your prayers for Carlee as she addresses her issues and attempts to move forward. Understanding that she made a mistake in this matter, Carlee again asks for your forgiveness and prayers.”

The Hoover Police department is currently in discussion with the district attorney’s office to discuss possible criminal charges for Carlee Russell. The Hoover Chief of Police, Nick Derzis, assures that any and all charges will be announced when, and if, they are filed.
