Talk to us about how you got your start in the industry.

I was going to school in Los Angeles- I went to UCLA and then graduate school, at USC. Had I not gone to school in Los Angeles, I don’t think I would be an actor today. To make a long story short, I was on my way to becoming a lawyer and I was in law school After my first year in law school I worked at a law firm, and the partner told me to “do something else” after the summer interning for him. He was right. I went back to Los Angeles, finished my schooling, and tried acting since I was in L.A. anyway. It worked and I never looked back.

Tell us all about THE MODELIZER, your latest film that’s set to hit theaters on VOD this Friday, July 14.

THE MODELIZER is a romantic comedy set in the world of international models in Hong Kong. I play Shawn Koo who comes from a well-off family, and what he does is he likes to date models- international models- in Hong Kong. What happens to him is that he meets a model from Brazil, played by the wonderful Rayssa Bratillieri, who doesn’t play by his rules. Shawn is used to using money as a way to buy affection and love but it just doesn’t work on this model from Brazil. That’s the movie- he tries to win over her love and in the process he finds out about himself and about the meaning of love.

How did you prepare for your role in the film?

I did a lot of research into this world. I actually wrote the script because it was the fastest way to see this movie into production. In Hong Kong- unbeknownst to me- there are a lot of Ukrainian models, Russian models, and Brazillian models, and they all live in Hong Kong. It’s their home. I talked to a lot of models and got to know them. I also talked to PR who organized a lot of model activities and events in order to understand the world. Once I understood the world, it wasn’t hard to play this character.

What are some of your other favorite projects you’ve worked on to date?

Well, I actually have another movie coming out in the fall around September or October. It’s an action movie so I’m very excited about that film, as well. Right now it’s all about THE MODELIZER. We’re super excited about it, it’s a special movie for all of us.

What’s next for you?

I just came back from Korea where I was doing a Korean film that should be coming out next year. It’s been the highlight of my last 2 years which is incredible. It was an incredible experience.
