When people are assessing what to watch on television in the modern world, it tends to result in a scroll through popular streaming services like Netflix or Amazon Prime. Additionally, some people might even go one step further and watch a movie in the cinema, particularly if it’s a huge release that isn’t available to stream yet, such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In fact, Marvel’s movie is well worth seeing.

For English actor Asim Chaudhry, alongside a range of other notable faces from the Marvel franchise over the years, playing a big role in the movie was arguably the biggest moment of his career to date. After all, Marvel is absolutely huge. People watch Marvel cartoons and read comics, and there are Marvel games to play like Marvel vs Capcom, and even titles like the Asgardian Stones casino game that isn’t Marvel but is set in the mythical world of Asgard, which you’ll recognize from the Thor movies, alongside the merchandise people snap up and the all-round global appeal of the Marvel franchise in general. For Chaudhry, it’s a big deal to enter this beloved universe.

While Asim Chaudhry isn’t visible in the movie after voicing and performing motion capture work for Teefs, a walrus who was genetically enhanced by High Evolutionary, many fans were left wondering exactly who he is, particularly in certain parts of the world. So, with that in mind, let’s assess his rise to the top below.

Chaudhry rose to fame through People Just Do Nothing

In the UK, dry comedy in a mockumentary style is generally well-liked, with shows like The Office originating there before being altered for American audiences. Arguably one of the best shows from this particular genre in recent times is People Just Do Nothing, a hit BBC show that followed the lives of a pirate radio station called Kurupt FM. Offering plenty of comical value throughout, the show focuses on the illegal runnings of a garage-focussed music station, with MC Grindah and his second-in-command, DJ Beats, claiming to be the most talented musicians on earth. Chabuddy G, who is played by Asim Chaudhry, is a much-loved character that went viral on the internet and provided arguably the most laughs in the show. The manager of Kurupt FM, Chabuddy G was known for dodgy dealings that occurred through the array of independent businesses he ran, with Asim Chaudhry stating that the character is partially based on his father.

Chabuddy G was everywhere despite the show finishing

Although People Just Do Nothing ended in 2018 after five series, it was still being featured in various forms of media throughout the UK. Chaudhry’s character, the aforementioned Chabuddy G, was a particular favorite after being featured on numerous television commercials and being seen on panel shows, podcasts, and talk shows. While Asim Chaudhry would rarely break character, he managed to supplement his appearances as Chabuddy G with a few stints on shows where he was simply being himself. This, coupled with the comical value the show’s character provided, made him an instantly recognizable face that people warmed to.

The Sandman eventually came calling

After shining in the UK and becoming a household name with audiences, The Sandman’s makers saw potential in the English comedian, writer, director and actor, and offered him the role of Abel in Netflix’s hit adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s iconic dark fantasy comic. Playing as the Biblical son of Adam and Eve, Chaudhry shone in the role. As a result of his evident talent, when Marvel were assessing the best actors for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Asim Chaudhry was a name they could rely on. More is expected to come from the talented actor, too.
