Aaron Taylor-Johnson New 007 Announcement

The Sun recently reported that Eon Productions, the studio behind the James Bond films, officially offered British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson the role of the MI6 spy.

According to a source The Sun spoke with, if he wants it “Bond is Aaron’s job,” and the studio is “waiting to hear back” from him. While no announcement has been made yet, the source claims Eon is confident Taylor-Johnson will sign the contract and can start preparing for the announcement afterward.

Eon Productions has not formally confirmed that Taylor-Johnson has been offered the role. The Sun also reported that, when asked about possibly playing Bond, Taylor-Johnson said he thought the idea of other people seeing him as 007 “charming” and took it “as a great compliment,”

The 33-year-old actor from High Wycombe is best known for his performances as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Dave Lizewski in Kick-Ass, and Ray Marcus in Nocturnal Animals. He is married to British director Sam Taylor-Johnson, with whom he shares four children.

As previously reported by HOLR, Taylor-Johnson was rumored to be the frontrunner for the role of Bond. Other actors under consideration reportedly included Richard Madden from Game of Thrones, Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, and Cillian Murphy.

If confirmed, Taylor-Johnson would be the newest incarnation of the MI6 agent after Daniel Craig took on the role for 15 years. Craig first starred as Bond in Casino Royale in 2006. He went on to star in four other Bond films, bowing out of the role with the release of the 2021 film No Time to Die.
