Due to the writer’s strike, Jennifer Coolidge & Kieran Culkin won’t be hosting on ‘SNL

As the labor union continues the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, the two American actors, Jennifer Coolidge and Kieran Culkin’s chance to host the final two episodes on ‘Saturday Night Live’ were canceled. Coolidge was scheduled to host on May 20 season finale and Culkin for May 13th.

Jennifer Coolidge was set to star along the American rock band, the Foo Fighters. The iconic rock band would have reportedly made their first stage appearance since the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Is ‘Saturday Night Live‘ canceled?

The WGA strike has made its impact on ‘SNL’ as the remaining episodes of season 48 were canceled. The show is unlikely to return by the end of the current season.

Pete Davidson (American comedian, actor & writer) was set to make his return to ‘SNL’. His episode this Saturday was also impacted by the WGA strike and was supposed to have Lil Uzi Vert as the musical guest.

Hollywood writer’s strike

The strike began at midnight on May 2nd. The Writers Guild of America is a labor union that comprises members representing writers that work in news, television, and online media.

The WGA requested better wages and protections. This negotiation with big companies Disney, Apple, Netflix, Amazon, Discovery-Warner, Paramount, NBC Universal, and Sony did not come to an agreement. After a new contract was requested by the WGA and declined – members of the WGA went on a walkout.

A popular question that many celebrities were asked at the Met Gala 2023 was surrounding their thoughts on the WGA.
