JoJo Siwa’s attempt to rebrand her name and music

Since JoJo retired her bows and rainbows, she has been attempting to rebrand herself. This year she has shifted from her traditional colorful, childlike posts to an edgier dark theme on Instagram.

On March 11, the singer/dancer posted three posts with a warning. The posts separated her previous JoJo posts for her new persona.

They said the following, “The following content is not made for children and may be disturbing or offensive to some viewers. May contain sexual themes, violence, strong language, traumatic scenarios, and fasting lights.

After the warning, the 20-year-old began to show a sneak peek of her latest track, Karma, in which she describes herself as a ‘bad girl.’

New music coming

The star began to post photos with cryptic captions hinting at her new lyrics. Some teases of her lyrics for her song Karma include: ‘I was a bad girl, I did some bad things/ I swear I did it off of fun and it meant nothing,’ she crooned in the first verse. ‘Another late night, another crazy mood/And I didn’t think twice what it would do to you.’

Fans compare her to other child stars

JoJo’s intentions to break from a child star to an adult image reminds many fans of Miley Cyrus. The former Disney star paved the way for breaking from the child star shackles and becoming an adult, it allegedly seems like JoJo is attempting the same idea.
