Phase four of Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with a new miniseries starring “Dune” actor Oscar Isaac.  Isaac will play the role of Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee who suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. In the series, Steven discovers that he lives another life as a mercenary named Marc Spector/Moon Knight after experiencing several blackouts. Steven/Marc must navigate how to work with their complex identities as they uncover “a deadly mystery involving Egyptian gods.”

Ethan Hawke will star alongside Oscar Isaac as Arthur Harrow, a cult leader associated with the Egyptian god Ammit. Arthur is a religious extremist who sees Moon Knight as a hindrance to his plan in “healing the world.” Additionally, “Ramy” actress May Calamawy joins the cast as Layla El-Faouly, a friend of Marc Spector.

The rest of the ensemble includes Gaspard Ulliel as Antony Mogart/Midnight Man, Lucy Thackeray as Donna, and F. Murray Abraham as the voice of Egyptian moon god, Khonshu.

Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, recently revealed that Moon Knight is MCU’s darkest and wildest superhero to date. Furthermore, it has been rumoured that it rivals Matt Murdock’s Daredevil—who has also found a new home in Disney+. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Feige claims that the new superhero is indeed brutal. He states, “There are moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.”

Simultaneously, Marvel will also tackle the main hero’s mental health condition. In the same interview, Isaac reveals that addressing his character’s DID is risky, but they were able to take more risk and “bring that experimental quality on a huge scale” due to it being a miniseries rather than a movie.
