According to this TikTok video posted by user @noahglenncarter, there was a rumor floating around claiming Poptropica was shutting down on December 30 of this year. Poptroica is a web game that has been around since 2007.

“No, Poptropica is not shutting down permanently,” says the TikToker. Allegedly, a rumor started claiming that the game was shutting down on December 30. The rumor spread frantically online through platforms such as TikTok, as people started creating nostalgic slideshows and videos detailing their memories of the game and stating how sad they were that their favorite childhood game was no longer going to be around- allegedly.
As it turns out, the rumors are actually false and based on no real information. The Poptropica team came forward on social media to state that the game is still going to be around on December 30- and beyond.
So, this is awkward. We’re still here. And will be on December 31st. But super sweet that you all love us so much that the thought of us leaving got us so much attention!
