Is Jonathan Scott engaged to Zooey Deschanel?
In an exclusive with PEOPLE Magazine, Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott announce they’re engaged!
The couple had been together for four years before announcing their engagement on August 14.
Indeed, Scott popped the question during a family trip to Scotland, which Deschanel’s two children helped him with.
PEOPLE exclusively confirmed that Elsie, 8, and son Charlie, 6 played a role in the special moment.
When the couple made the announcement on their joint Instagram accounts, it was with a simple caption- “Forever starts now.”
What’s more, the location itself is important to Scott.
In fact, sources reveal that at Scott’s brother’s wedding, they wore kilts to honour their family heritage. The brothers’ father, Jim, emigrated from the country to Canada as a teen.
So, the proposal made much more special with such a meaningful backstory.

How did Deschanel and Scott meet?
Previously, the couple had first met in 2019 when they starred in James Cordon’s Carpool Karaoke.
In fact, they both starred alongside their respective siblings, Drew Scott and Bones star Emily Deschanel.
Sources told PEOPLE, “They were all talented and spontaneous and they had a really fun time shooting the show.”
“They became friends after and then started talking as friends and realized there was more to it.”
Jonathan admitted he was “flirting so hard” with Zooey the day they met.”
Adding, “I thought I was playing it cool.”

In October, Jonathan and Zooey made things Instagram official during a double date with his brother and Linda.
The source said, “He makes her laugh and he’s so sweet to her.” “They bonded over a shared love of music.”
Last year, after celebrating three years together, they took to social media to show their love and commitment to each other.
Jonathan said in his Instagram, “Hard to believe…scratch that…Easy to believe it’s already been 3 years with this beautiful soul in my life. @zooeydeschanel you make everything better ?.”
Zooey in turn wrote, “I got the best one ??? most wonderful three years ever.”
