Months after the singer’s divorce from Gerard Piqué, Shakira and her sons bid Barcelona farewell. The singer allegedly caught him cheating.

Shakira confirmed through Instagram that she, Milan, and Sasha are leaving Barcelona. After being apart from her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique for several months, she made her decision. The singer shared a picturesque image from the Spanish city and announced that she will be beginning a new chapter from a different location.

According to Shakira’s farewell message, “I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability, the same we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea. Today we start a new chapter in the pursuit of their happiness,” reads the English translation.

In addition, she said, “Thank you to everyone who surfed alongside me so many waves there in Barcelona, the city where I learned that friendship is certainly longer than love.” Fans responded to the tweet by expressing their admiration for the 46-year-old musician.

Shakira and Gerard Piqué, a former player for FC Barcelona, dated for more than ten years before becoming engaged. Milan, who is nine years old, and Sasha, who is seven, are their two sons. They split up in June of the previous year.

Gerard and Clara Chia Marti went Instagram official in January of this year. He allegedly began dating her when she was still with Shakira.

Earlier, Shakira and Gerard released a joint statement in June 2022 to reveal their split. The message said, “We regret to confirm that we are separating. We ask for privacy at this moment for the well-being of our children, who are our maximum priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect.”
