  • Shiseido Ibuki Softening Concentrate, $30, sephora.ca

Dehydrated skin like mine needs moisture, not emollients. A thin gel-fluid essence like this one, rather than one that is a water texture, gives my skin a good drink and plumps it up at the same time.

  • Laneige BB Cushion SPF 50, $45, sephora.ca

I’m so in love with this! I also like Lancôme’s Miracle Cushion and the new L’oreal Paris Cushion – all beautiful textures and finishes that result in compliments on my complexion – but the Laneige Light is my perfect shade, and every box comes with a refill. That makes my wallet happy too.

  • Chanel Le Volume Mascara in Black, $38, Hudson’s Bay, thebay.com

I can get just about as lush and voluminous finish with great mascaras from Maybelline, Revlon, and CoverGirl, but this one does it in the least amount of strokes, which is key for a girl  who most often applies her makeup in the back of a cab.

  • Shiseido Facial Cotton Pads, $11, sephora.ca

So soft and plush yet really sturdy, and they never scratch the skin or leave fuzzy bits in your lashes or eyes. Try them once and all other cotton pads cease to exist. Converts know.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Lost Cherry, $38, charlottetilbury.com/ca

I adore a bright, bold lip mostly because it means a pared-down, minimal-step approach for the rest of my makeup (see: cab-face). I have favourites from YSL, Chanel, Dior, Clinique, Revlon, Maybelline, L’Oreal Paris, Essence, The Body Shop… the list is so long! But this is the one I’m currently crushing on.
