Following the highly dramatized series of events leading to the media showcase that was Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen’s relationship, Giselle and Tom have officially finalized their divorce.

History:

For a significant portion of their relationship, Tom Brady has left Giselle with a majority of the responsibility for their children. While this may have been suitable for the short term while Brady continued his NFL career, this put a significant strain on their relationship.

“I don’t think relationships just happen; it’s never the fairy tale people want to believe it is. It takes work to be really in sync with someone, especially after you have kids,” Bündchen said. “His focus is on his career, mine is mostly on the kids. And I’m very grateful that he lets me take the reins when it comes to our family. He trusts my decisions.” Bundchen told Vogue in an interview in May of 2022.

As well, Brady attempted to retire from the NFL last season, later relenting on his decision and continuing to play. There was undoubtedly a consensus that Brady would take greater responsibility for their relationship and children after his playing career ended, and his decision to renege on their agreement most likely put a strain on their relationship.

In addition to the stress put on their relationship by Brady continuing to play, the threat of long-term injury to the Buccaneers QB put stress on Bundchen. In an interview with CBS news, Bundchen remarked on how her husband goes through concussions regularly and it has a toll on his health. ” That kind of aggression all the time; it cannot be healthy for you,” she said in the same interview. Considering the possible concussion symptoms Brady will experience later in life, it is understandable that Giselle Bundchen would’ve hoped Tom Brady retired last season.

As with any celebrity news, Brady and Bundchen were forced to publicly announce the finalization of their divorce. Both Brady and Bundchen seemed to have parted amicably and sought to keep the media out of their affairs in this stressful time.

To announce their divorce Brady posted: “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.

When asked about how Brady’s personal life would affect his play, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowes said this: “I can’t say for sure. Tom’s a very private person. He does his job when he’s out here. And he smiles a lot,” Bowles said. “That’s really all you can go by. I think everybody — no matter what profession — you go through some things. It’s how you handle it and come out of it. I’m sure he has something weighing on him when he leaves work and everything. I don’t know how much. I guess that’s a question for him.”
