The NFL Carolina Panthers fired head coach Frank Reich after a 1-10 start to the 2023 season

“This is probably the final chapter of my NFL journey.” Frank Reich said in an interview with Yahoo! sports. On Monday, the NFL Carolina Panthers fired the head coach, Frank Reich, after a 1-10 start to the 2023 season. Reich’s tenure as the Panthers’ head coach lasted only 11 games. As the interim head coach, special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will take over his position. In addition, the Panthers also fired quarterback coach Josh McCown and assistant head coach/ RB Duce Staley. This was a significant decision by the Panthers’ special teams coordinator, Chris Tabor, and a special advertiser for the team, Jim Caldwell.

The Panthers’ official Instagram shared a post showing a comment by David Tepper.

“I met with Coach Reich this morning and informed him that he will not continue as head coach of the Carolina Panthers. I want to thank Frank for his dedication and service, and we wish him well. Effective immediately, Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor will serve as our interim head coach. Senior Assistant Jim Caldwell will be a special advisor to Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown, who will take over play-calling duties. DAVID TEPPER”

Former Blue Hose standout forward basketball player Al’lonzo Coleman, 34, left a comment on this post. He said, “Should’ve just kept Steve Wilkes to begin with!😑,” which was agreed by many others. Steve Wilks, 54, was a former Panthers’ head coach in the 2022 season. He is a current defensive coordinator who began the year by coaching. It was surprising that the Panthers fired Wilks since he had enough records, guiding the team to a 6-6 record during his interim charge after a former head coach, Matt Rhule.

Reich shows his disappointment in his incompetent

Tepper unavoidably decided to lay off Reich even after just 11 games. It has been a challenging season for him, which boiled over on Sunday. The 17-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans led to a clincher of his fire. The former Panthers’ head coach said, “There’s a heart-pounding disappointment in not hitting the marks that we needed to hit to keep this going and try to get it turned around” in an interview with The Charlotte Observer.

Even though it was a hard time for Reich, he also showed respect for his owner. “On a personal level, I saw a side of him that I deeply respect and care about. “I have no hard feelings, and my personal relationship with him was actually a real highlight of this short time,” from Yahoo! sports.
