The film marks Meg Ryan’s first film in 8 years and her return to the rom-com genre.

Meg Ryan returns to the big screen with “What Happens Later” with David Duchovny. She also co-wrote and directed her comeback film. It is based on Steven Dietz’s play Shooting Star. The film is about former couple Willa (Ryan) and Bill (Duchovny), who bump into each other at an airport after two decades. Due to a snowstorm that delayed their respective flights.

The film’s synopsis (as mentioned here) states that this reunion is a chance for both of them to reminisce about their past and introspect what’s ahead.

“Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier. But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted.”

Meanwhile, audiences are excited to see Meg Ryan coming back to the rom-com genre. Some of her famous rom-com movies are When Harry Met Sally (1989), Prelude to a Kiss (1992), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), You’ve Got Mail (1998), etc.

What Happens Later will hit the theatres on October 13. Watch the trailer here.
