In the video, Gomez can be seen tripping on the red carpet. In the clip. her ankle appears to bend a certain way which has caused subsequent speculation in the comment section. As this article by Us Magazine further details, Gomez allegedly tripped while walking down the carpet and lost one of her shoes. After steadying herself, the star removed her other high heel and walked down the walkway barefoot.
She was later seen without any shoes presenting an award on stage at the event.

This incident- which was captured on camera- was met with conspiracy theories surrounding the star allegedly shapeshifting on camera. This is because people were speculating about the way Gomez’s foot seemed to bend when she tripped. This conspiracy theory surrounding shapeshifting alleges that powerful individuals are shapeshifting entities. However, there is no concrete evidence to back up this alleged claim.
This did not stop people from going to the comment section to allege why the star’s foot seemed to bend this way on camera. Claims of AI were swirling but others claimed that the original video looked no different. However, others came to the star’s defense and stated that it looked like she just rolled her ankle.
As a result, speculating about a celebrity shapeshifting spreads misinformation and dehumanizes individuals by reducing them to fantastical, non-human figures. It subsequently fuels paranoia, distrust, and harmful stereotypes, while distracting from meaningful discussions about real-world issues.
