A new study has found that people who live close to airports are four times as likely to suffer a heart attack.

Study Analyzes 3,000 Residents Near Airports
University College London (UCL) experts have discovered that the sound of planes leads to an increased chance of poor cardiac health after studying heart imaging data from over 3,000 people living near Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester airports in the UK.
Residents in those areas had more heart anomalies than those who weren’t exposed to high levels of aeroplane noise – meaning that blood is pumped less efficiently around the body and quadrupling the risk of heart attacks.
UCL cardiologist Dr. Gaby Captur said: “Our findings add to a growing body of evidence that aircraft noise can adversely affect heart health and our health more generally.
Calls for Action to Reduce Noise Impact
“Concerted efforts from the Government and industry are needed to reduce our exposure to aircraft noise and mitigate its impact on the health of millions who live close to airports or under flight paths.”
