Eagle-eyed Taylor Swift fans have noticed that ‘Need’ is now available on streaming. However, it appears that Taylor has sold the song to a different artist.
Taylor Swift ‘Need’ Unreleased
February 21, 2025-‘Need’ would have been a track on Taylor’s album Lover. Despite Taylor choosing not to release the song, it quickly gained a following when it was leaked in February 2023. However, Taylor ended up releasing another leaked Lover track called ‘All Of The Girls You Loved Before’ in March 2023. This left fans hoping that the ‘Love Story’ singer would eventually release ‘Need.’ Instead, a lesser-known artist called Steven Wilmot released the song on Valentine’s Day 2025.
Taylor Swift Sells ‘Need’
”Taylor has written songs for other artists before and sold her songs. Such as ‘Better Man’ and ‘Babe.’ It is plausible that she has sold this song to this guy. But considering that he is relatively unknown is a bit strange,” said TikTok user Chloe.
In addition, fans are also theorizing that Wilmot is a pseudonym created by Taylor. The singer has done this before, releasing previous songs under the name Nils Sjöberg. However, Wilmot does appear to be a real man despite his lack of popularity.
”He has biographies on lots of music pages. Appears to be a songwriter and has co-written songs with One-Republic and appears to of collaborated with the likes of U2, said Chloe.
Taylor Swift Artist of The Year
Swift has recently been awarded Global Recording Artist for the fifth time by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. The award has been given to Taylor based on her global success. Therefore, fans are perplexed about why Swift would sell an unreleased track to someone with a small number of followers.
Both Swift and Wilmot have yet to comment on the song’s release.
