The holiday season is upon us, and what better gift is there to receive than a blast from the past? GUESS is here to spread holiday cheer and vintage inspiration from some of the most iconic decades in fashion history.
Widely known for their graphics from the 1980s and 90s, GUESS is paying homage to the quintessential looks that once defined an era. The new GUESS Originals capsule collection depicts the perfect combination of vintage, mixed with a twist of modernity. The campaign for the release of this limited-edition collection is brought to you by Chief Creative Officer, Paul Marciano, lead of art direction, as well as photographer, Asato Lida.
For a bit of a backstory, GUESS began as a jean company back in 1981 and has since transformed into the globally infamous brand it is today. The brand designs, distributes, licenses, and markets a lifestyle collection of contemporary clothing, handbags, jewelry, accessories, and other consumer related products across 80 countries. GUESS was initially founded by the Marciano brothers and is inspired by their European influence. It’s safe to say that the Marciano’s redefined denim. Nowadays, you can find GUESS at your local department store but once upon a time, Bloomingdale’s was the first department store to welcome the brand.
Featuring essential styles from previous decades, this new (yet retro) collection embraces a charmingly nostalgic aesthetic. By bringing back old school GUESS, consumers can delve themselves into the history of the company and where it all started.
The colour palette for the women’s clothing blends soft mixtures of blue and yellow tones, with hints of deep wine, forest green, and cream colourway combinations. Similar hues are found in the men’s collection, used to re-create the classic GUESS logo tee. Both men and women sections feature a fair variety of colours that are imitative of the past.
The 26-piece collection consists of familiar woven labels, buttons, and rivets that range from $39 – $98. The women’s capsule includes pieces like short and long-sleeved shirts embellished with the definitive GUESS logo, a bodysuit in both solid and striped patterns, as well as a cropped hoodie.
As for the men’s capsule, you can find graphic both long and short sleeved tee’s, joggers, cargo pants, windbreakers, and oversized hoodies. Accessories include sling bags, analog watches, and sunglasses.
The GUESS Originals Capsule Collection is now available online at guess.com, as well as in GUESS stores.
