Ready for another sports movie?

While Challengers was all about tennis, the new movie by Josh Safdie puts ping-pong in the limelight. Marty Supreme is a sports-comedy movie starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet, and apparently, things have been getting steamy between the two actors.

This is the first time Paltrow is back on set after filming 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and she was surprised about some of the changes that have happened since she’s been gone. For one, she didn’t know what an intimacy coordinator was.

“There’s now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed,” she told Vanity Fair. “I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on.’”

The Oscar winner wasn’t the biggest fan of this change. “I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but…if someone is like, ‘Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here,’  I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that.”

Eventually, the two actors declined the intimacy coordinator.

“We said, ‘I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back,’” Paltrow explained.

While the director Safdie hasn’t revealed much about the story of Marty Supreme, the Avengers-star explained that the movie is about “this woman who is married to someone who is in the Ping-Pong mafia,” who falls into bed with Chalamat’s character after a “pretty rough life.”

Cameron Diaz Supports Paltrow’s Return To Acting

Paltrow’s break from acting made her doubt she was ready to get back on screen, but her friends encouraged her through every step. “Cameron Diaz is one of my best friends, sorry to name-drop,” Paltrow said during her Vanity Fair interview. Diaz told her to “think about the richness and the deepening of your life” while getting back into more serious acting.

Diaz herself had been on an acting hiatus, coming back after 11 years to star in Netflix’s Back In Action.

Marty Supreme releases in theatres on December 24th.
