Keep reading to learn all about Karen Cliche- from her latest projects to what she loves to do in her spare time to what’s next, and more, below!

How did you get your start in the industry?

So, I knew I always wanted to be an actress- it was my life dream and goal. I did it through high school in drama classes and then I was modeling a little later on during my late teens. My modeling agency then opened up an acting division and so I started auditioning from there and I started booking right away. It was kind of a seamless transition but I was so happy to have the opportunity because I didn’t know how to get started otherwise. It seemed like an unattainable dream at the time but then I got that opportunity and started auditioning and booking. I was super lucky to work right away which is super nice.

You recently starred in Eli Roth’s latest thriller film Thanksgiving, which was released theatrically worldwide on November 17th. Talk to us about this role and experience.

I did not know what to expect or what I was getting myself into! I knew Eli Roth’s work- I know Hostel– and I am not typically a horror fan but that one I had seen like 3 times over the years. It was such a great experience filming it. I had already been in Saw VI so I was familiar with gore and filming terrifying scenes. The whole experience in general was amazing- Eli is so great to work with. He’s such an actor’s director. The cast and storyline are also amazing- the film really has a universal appeal. Overall it’s a well-rounded movie.

What did you love most about working on this film?

I mean, I didn’t know it at the time but I had my own opinion about Patrick Dempsey and he was the sexiest man alive in my mind but then when it got confirmed by PEOPLE Magazine it was amazing to have worked with him. He’s just as stunning in person and so nice, and super friendly. The rest of the cast including my husband on-screen Rick Hoffman- was great. Overall the vibe, cast, and crew are one of the best experiences of my life. Everybody was so kind and collaborative- including Eli and the camera crew. That whole experience was amazing.

Can you tell us more about some of your other favorite projects you’ve worked on to date?

I really love working on comedies because the vibe is just hilarious. Anytime I can work on a comedy that has some improv, I’m in heaven. I have to say, in my 20s, I did a lot of TV series and I love those because some went on for months. You really bond so closely with the cast and crew. I did a show called Mutant X back in the day and that was one of my favorite experiences – we were really like a family and had so much fun. I have such fond memories of being a big family and everybody got along. It was such a fun experience.

Projects where I get to travel are even better! I did movies in Australia and Hong Kong. A TV series I worked on took me to England and the South of France, too.

What do you love to do in your spare time?

I’m a bit of a gym rat- I go probably 6 days a week. When I’m home, honestly, I do my work while I cuddle with my cats working from my laptop on my bed- it’s my favourite thing to do. My boys are always around me! I love cooking as well, so I love finding amazing recipes to cook- it’s a favourite pastime of mind. I also love hanging out with my friends, having drinks, and hanging out with good people.

What’s next for you?

I hope to be doing a bunch of different conventions and meeting fans because I love doing that. I’ve always been really connected to fans. I do some coaching as well, on the side. I teach acting at a school where I live and I love connecting with people. I hope to be doing that more and sharing my wisdom to help others grow in their own careers. I am also working on amazing projects so stay tuned!
