House of the Dragon is a prequel to the iconic series Game of Thrones.

HBO released the official teaser of the House of the Dragon season 2 on Saturday.

“There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin — and no war so bloody as a war between dragons,” says Princess Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) in the teaser.

“The war will be fought, many will die, and the victor will eventually ascend the throne,” says Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke).

The returning cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.

Newcomers are Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.

Created by Ryan Condel, which is based on George R. R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood.” He is also the co-creator. House of the Dragon takes place around 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones” and about 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen.

Both Ryan and Martin are the executive producers with Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere and Vince Gerardis.

The first season premiered on August 21, 2022. It’s HBO’s biggest series premiere ever, with 9.99 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max.

House of the Dragon Season 2 will be released in Summer 2024. Watch the teaser here.
