We finally got a chance to sit down with Mike Diamond and talk about his book “7 Steps to an Unbreakable Mindset”. This ambitious author is also a Guinness world record holder, bodybuilder, producer, actor and much more. Here is our interview with jack of all trades Mike Diamond.

I have heard so many crazy things and stories about you, there is so much to get into but first I have to hear about you holding the Guinness world record for running…please tell us about that.

It all started when I met this little girl named Layla who suffers from a very rare auto immune deficiency. I met this little girl and couldn’t really figure out how to help, but I knew I had to do something. So I decided to run 30 half marathons in 30 days to help bring awareness and support her cause.

That is amazing. That must have been difficult.

The running was a challenge, but I actually got a hernia just before the race and that made it especially difficult. I suffer from colitis and got the news. But I am not one of those types of people that let adversity stop them. I mean, who am I to stop running when this poor girl is the whole reason we are doing this. So yes it was a challenge, but I made it through and that’s what is important.

That’s great! Now, let’s talk about your book “7 Steps to an Unbreakable Mindset”, which is selling on Amazon. It has made a real splash on the self help book scene. Can you tell our readers a little bit about it?

It all started when I was doing back to back speaking engagements to groups for alcohol and drug addiction. I started to notice patterns and commonalities within my speeches. I ended up breaking them down into 7 simple and effective steps that can be taken. I feel that things need to be as simple and easy as possible for people to be able to follow them.

What advice would you give someone who feels down or is not living up to their full potential?

Start by eating clean and exercising. Whatever you are eating has a frequency. Food has a frequency, negative or positive. My good friend Morgan Spellock proved that in his documentary “Super Size Me ”. Then there is also portion size, people unfortunately overeat, and use food as a comfort device. We need to be mindful, slow down, and chew the food we eat.

What other advice would you offer to make people more successful?

Even when eating clean, it doesn’t mean you are going to feel great and be motivated 100% of the time. You have to understand, successful people do the work no matter how they feel. Unsuccessful people only do the work when they feel good and feel right. What happens if 99% of the time you don’t feel good? You would never get anything done. Successful people have the ability to push through that.

And how would you recommend that they push through that?

It comes down to purpose. Purpose trumps passion every day. Passion is a feeling, purpose is a mission. Nietzsche said “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” Man has to have a why. God has given everyone some kind of ability or talent.  What happens if you don’t have a good environment or upbringing? You will be forced to do a job that you do not like. Take this example. Your parents say be a doctor. Because it’s safe, but if it’s not your purpose, you won’t be happy. Don’t let other people decide what your purpose is.  When you have the courage to live to your potential and follow your dreams…Everything will fall into place. You still have to put the time in. But it can’t be based on something outside of yourself, it has to drive you from within. It’s about having that purpose and giving back.

What about the people who do not know what their purpose is?

Those people are not spending enough time with themselves. Whatever they are scared of most of the time is what they should be going after. Then it’s about consistency, self discipline, and being present in the moment. Yesterday’s food doesn’t keep you full today. People are living on the fumes of yesterday’s success. Find your purpose from deep within, then live that life. Take action now and live that life right now. Don’t let the world decide your mindset, you decide your mindset.

That is really great Mike, I thank you for making time in your busy schedule. I do have one more question for you. I heard rumors about a new book you have coming out which is supposed to be revolutionary. Can you tell me what that’s about?

We are in talks with a few of the biggest publishers in the business and they have advised me to keep a lid on this one until the time is right. But yes…to answer your question… if the last book made a splash, this one should make a tidal wave.
