Today is Coronation day! People want to know what Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, is wearing to the Coronation so HOLR is breaking it down.
Let’s talk about what Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, is wearing to King Charles III Coronation, today.
What did Princess Kate wear to the coronation?
Middleton wore an “ivory silk crepe dress and cape which featured floral motifs of daffodils, roses, shamrocks, and thistles,” as mentioned here. These designs were evidently symbolic of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. To complete her full look she added diamond-and-pearl-drop earrings (originally belonging to Princess Diana) and the George VI festoon necklace.
Middleton also donned a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headpiece- instead of a tiara- for the occasion, as noted here. This headpiece included leaf embroidery as well as stunning crystal and silver threadwork.
Who designed Kate’s coronation gown?
Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen silk crepe dress and cape for today’s Coronation ceremony.
What are the robes that Kate is wearing?
As mentioned here, Kate Middleton was announced “a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO)” back in 2019. As a result, Middleton is now granted permission to wear the Grand Cross Mantles of the Royal Victorian Order. The robe she donned today for the event is also made with “dark blue silk satin,” as noted here.
