A video of Britney Spears is going viral online after users allegedly thought it was a deepfake of the star.
This TikTok video (below) from user @alecloin explains the controversy surrounding a now-viral video of Britney Spears that has reportedly since been deleted from the star’s Instagram account.

What happened to Britney Spears?
The video was allegedly originally published by Spears to her social media account but has reportedly since been deleted. Apparently, fans thought the video was a deepfake of the star, in which it was believed that the person in the video was not actually Spears, but a computer-manipulated version of her created by a software system.
In the TikTok video, the TikToker slows down the footage which allegedly appears to show a glitch in Spears’ face- especially the eyes. The TikToker goes on to say that some are speculating Spears had a filter on (which subsequently came off during a dance move) while others think it is actually a deepfake.
The TikToker even tried creating a deepfake to see if a glitching pattern could be uncovered. The TikToker noticed that when the eyes are not detected by the app the face disappears for a second, which is seemingly what happens in Spears’ alleged video. The TikToker is not confirming or denying that Spears’ video is a deepfake, but goes on to say that this further solidifies the notion that deepfakes are real and can be easily created and manipulated.
What’s weird is that the video has reportedly since been deleted from Spears’ social media, where it was allegedly first posted.
