Americas Cardroom Pro Katie Lindsay is a force to be reckoned with at the poker tables and is quickly making her mark on the scene. In October 2024, she reached a new milestone when she won the Moneymaker Tour Main Event in Aruba, taking home her biggest career win yet of $102,915. Her previous best result was at a $10,000 Wynn Millions event where she won almost $63,000, making her Aruba victory her first six-figure cash. She’s also showcased her prowess online; she won a World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOP-C) ring in 2022, which has remained one of her most meaningful tournaments. Though she’s an emerging poker powerhouse, she’s also known for her eye-catching, feminine fashion and lifestyle habits that keep her confident and lively while playing poker and beyond.

Katie Lindsay’s poker career

Katie Lindsay began playing poker right before graduating from college. Around the same time, poker icon and fellow Americas Cardroom Team Pro Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 WSOP and became the catalyst for the poker boom. Like many other poker players, she was inspired by his story and forged a career path in poker. She started writing for a poker magazine and set up an agency where she represented up to 30 professional players. Though she spent her early career supporting poker players, she also proved to be a skilled player herself. In 2015, she won a $50,000 victory at the Royal Poker Tournament Main Event in the Caribbean and continued to see success in the following years. She became an Americas Cardroom Team Pro, along with her husband, Chris Moorman, one of the most successful online poker players ever.

Our “How High Stakes Online Poker Tournaments Have Developed over the Past Decade” post highlights that high-stakes online poker tournaments have become more accessible today, as many sites offer free entry, allowing players to compete for huge rewards without paying any buy-in fees. Even so, playing online on reputable platforms can lead to opportunities like joining major tournaments worldwide through satellite competitions, which Americas Cardroom offers. In Katie Lindsay’s case, she represented the online poker site at various events, such as a charity tournament for the United Breast Cancer Foundation to raise support for breast cancer initiatives. She currently has $885,236 in live career winnings.

Fashionable flair

Beyond her poker accolades, Katie is known for her unique and vibrant fashion sense, which helps her stand out in any poker room she walks into. She often uses casino events as an opportunity to get dressed to the nines and show off her style. While many poker players focus on casual comfort, Katie loves wearing frilly dresses in bright colors or pastels, big fur coats, and bold, feminine accessories like heart-shaped sunglasses or flower headbands. She’s also fond of fun nail art, and often shows off her nails’ elaborate and quirky designs on social media.

Though she’s become a fashion icon in the poker world for her chic looks, that wasn’t always the case. Early in her career, she felt more self-conscious and wanted to keep a low profile while playing, opting for more laid-back clothing. However, she didn’t feel like herself, and a night out playing cash games in Las Vegas with friends helped her realize she could still play and succeed in poker while still being herself. Her ultrafeminine style helps her stay confident and comfortable at the table and has inspired many other women to wear what they want instead of hiding their true selves.

Living her best life

As a woman in poker, Katie has often expressed the pressure many women face in the industry. Many assume women won’t be good at the game while holding them to high standards, which can be difficult to manage when trying to succeed. As such, she’s emphasized the importance of having fun while playing poker, regardless of the outcome.

In The Heart of Poker podcast with Kara Scott, she mentions that she makes an effort to enjoy herself still and celebrate over drinks with friends, whether she does well or not. This mindset has helped her relax and stay comfortable while playing, allowing her to stay on top of her game rather than worrying. She also keeps her brain sharp by learning different languages, especially since she travels often and has lived in multiple countries. Meditation helps her stay calm, and she carves out at least five minutes each day for it. Aside from mental strength, Katie also pursues healthy habits to keep her physical condition in top shape. She exercises for 20 minutes daily, trying different workouts to get moving in any way possible. Stretching is also a crucial part of her routine, which helps decrease injury risk, increase blood flow, and enhance sleep. With her dedication to self-care, we can only guess how Katie will continue to change the face (and fashion) of poker in the coming years.
