In the photo Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, stands looking down with his bare upper body facing the camera. The photo reveals the extreme nature of the tattoo. The tattoo is solid black and covers his torso, shoulders, biceps, and forearms. A cross design in the middle of his chest reveals Kelly’s older tattoos; the vertical line of the cross turns black as it extends down to his stomach. Similarly, his biceps and forearms have designs that show older tattoos, extending down to his wrists in long black lines.

Los Angeles-based English artist Roxx designed the tattoo. Describing herself as “a visual artist and blackwork visionary” Roxx combines “mark-making, blackwork, and geometric motifs” and uses her queer-punk background, taking inspiration from indigenous cultures, nature, and architecture.
