The Toronto Maple Leafs have teamed up with Justin Bieber’s brand Drew House to create the first-ever reversible hockey jersey.

The Maple Leafs have been celebrating Next-Gen since their 100 year anniversary in 2017, now every year they have a next-gen game that celebrates and brings together the next generation of leaf fans, players and much more. “Since its inception during our 100th-anniversary celebrations in 2017, the Next Gen game has become an annual team event where all our fans, young and

old come together to celebrate, and in some cases introduce and share their passion with our next generation of Maple Leaf’s fans. We are excited to be able to take NextGen to another level with this special uniform designed with our next generation in mind” says Leaf’s president.

Drew House is the athleisure apparel brand co-created by Canada’s very own Justin Bieber, known for their vibrant colours, wacky caricature figures and ultra-soft clothes, Bieber and the team have teamed up to create the first-ever reversible jersey.

Alongside Drew House, the jerseys were co-designed by Adidas, bringing together the two companies in a very historic moment. The ‘alternate’ jersey has two designs, as it is reversible. On the player’s side, the classic Maple Leaf jersey is redesigned in a black and blue colour wave, where the blue stripes on the sleeve have the Toronto skyline embedded on them. After, or depending on how you like to wear your jersey, you can reverse it, and find the black and yellow side or the drawn side of the jersey. The black and yellow side matches the reverse theme with the inside-out look, showing off the fighting strap, and all the unfinished seams. The logo is still the big maple leaf but in it is a smaller yellow drew house maple leaf.

My love for the Maple Leafs has always been a big part of who I am, and my passion for the team, and the passion of millions of fans, is stitched into

this NextGen sweater, I’m grateful to the Leafs for the chance to team up again to create something so authentic for the team and its fans” says Justin Bieber longtime fan and friend to many Maple Leaf players.

The jersey and the collaboration came at a perfect time, Adidas had introduced ADIZERO at the beginning of this season and has made jerseys for all 32 teams with the ADIZERO prime green innovation technology. Prime green is a series of high-performance materials that contains 50% recycled content, an initiative that Adidas has been doing with their products for a few years in order to end plastic waste. “Working closely with the Maple Leafs, the NHL, Justin Bieber and the drew house brand to create something that has never been seen before in sports is

another example of Adidas’ commitment to driving the culture of hockey forward to reach new audiences,” said Dan Near, Senior Director Adidas Hockey. “At Adidas Hockey, innovation is at our core and introducing the Leafs’ reversible alternate jersey is the latest example.”

These new jerseys were both given out at the game to young fans and the next generation of hockey players, along with them being sold at the Maple Leaf store in the Scotiabank Arena. The next generation jersey is now considered the Leafs’ alternate jersey, meaning it is or can be used at any given moment when the team does not want to wear their home or away jersey or if the team they are facing has colours that are similar to one another.

We can expect to see this jersey a few times this season and it has already been a crowd pleaser and many people and fans are loving the idea of the reversible side.
