CityView Drive-In is thrilled to partner with the Reelworld Film Festival as part of the City’s DriveInTO initiative to present Across the Line. The free 16+ screening will take place at the city’s first concert and entertainment venue on Wednesday, August 19th, 2020.

Director X’s first feature film, Across the Line, stars Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk) as Mattie Slaughter and Sarah Jeffery (Shades of Blue, Charmed) as Jayme.

Mattie is a black teenager poised for hockey greatness. About to be considered for the NHL, he is under extra pressure from his agent to keep his reputation clean. But when race riots erupt at his school and his brother’s criminal life inches closer to home, Mattie’s reputation – and hockey dreams – are at risk. Inspired by the 1989 Cole Harbour District High School race riots, Across the Line explores racial tensions in North Preston, Nova Scotia. Equal parts beautiful and unsettling, the film sheds critical light on racism in Canada and the struggle to find one’s identity in a society eager to define.
