Robert De Niro Grandson Leandro De Niro Dead at 19

Earlier this week, outlets announced the death of Leandro De Niro, grandson of Robert De Niro. The boy was 19, and the news was first confirmed by his mother, Drena De Niro, Robert’s eldest daughter.

“My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly.” the actress started a post on Instagram in which she announced the death of her son.

Even though, at that time, Robert De Niro had not made any comments, on Monday, he issued a statement to PageSix, opening up about how the news about his grandson impacted him.

“I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo,” the actor told PageSix through his representative. “We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.” he added.

Until now, neither Drena De Niro nor any other family member has revealed Leandro s cause of death. However, on Tuesday, the actress posted a heartbreaking post on Instagram, mentioning the last time she had held his son.

Drena posted a black and white photo of Leandro that she captioned,“Leo my darling I love you today like the first day I held you in my arms. The same man that picked us up from the hospital when you were born drove us to the funeral home where I touched and held you for the last time . You were kindness acceptance and love and I can’t believe any of this is real YOU made everything bearable and every burden lighter.”
