Sabrina Carpenter’s new album, Short N’ Sweet, was released today. It will be her sixth album, but she says it feels more like her second album. Her first full-length studio album was released in 2015. At the time, Sabrina was also one of the main protagonists on the Disney Channel show “Girl Meets World.”. She says Short N’ Sweet and her album Emails I Can’t Send act as a new era that has broken her out of her Disney Channel era.

Sabrina’s new album focuses heavily on modern-day dating. The songs are nearly all about love—true love, crushes, lust, revenge, both sides of infidelity, and even heartbreak. Many of Sabrina’s public relationships were not long but significantly impacted her life. A few years ago, she was involved in a rumored love triangle between singers Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett. At the time, Rodrigo’s album, especially her hit Driver’s License, took the world by storm. However, some of the songs on Olvia’s album seemed to be about Sabrina, and much of the internet turned against Carpenter, which caused her a lot of trouble. Her album Emails I Can’t Send involved a lot of songs about her healing from the issue, notably her song “Because I Liked a Boy,” which seemed to detail the things people said about her following the rumors surrounding her and Joshua Bassett’s relationship.
Sabrina has been linked to actor Barry Keoghan. He has even been featured in her music video for her number-one hit, “Please, Please, Please.” However, rumors have recently circulated that their relationship has also ended. So, although Sabrina is enjoying Short N’ Sweet’s album release, the internet thinks that if the rumors are true, Carpenter could have a new topic for her next album.
