Survivor: Season 48 – Premiere and Cast
February 27, 2025 – The next season of Survivor is here with a brand-new cast and ever-present host Jeff Probst.
Survivors, welcome to Fiji!
The ‘new era’ format of Survivor has just gained another season. On Feb 28th, the first episode of Survivor 48 premiered on CBS and Paramount+, gratifying impatient fans.
“18 strangers will be abandoned in the islands of Fiji.” Host Jeff Probst welcomes us with his familiar speech, “They must learn to adapt, or they’ll be voted out.”
“Who will have what it takes to out-wit, out-plan, out-last all the rest?” He asks. “In the end, only one will remain to claim the million-dollar prize.”
A band of bold personalities is battling it out for this season’s prize. A Fire Captain, Marketing Professional, PHD-candidate, Flight Attendant, Stunt Performer, and Pizzeria Operator are among those who have entered the world of Survivor to battle, scheme, and win for all they are worth. And already, they’ve made a vibrant impression. Kamilla is bounding with comedic energy. ‘South-Philly-girl’ Saiounia knows her “lack of filter” will get her into trouble. Mitch, the first-ever competitor with a speech impediment, is determined to make his mark. And excitable Star has everyone on the edges of their seats.
Though they all come from different walks of life, Jeff reminded the survivors of one thing that united them: “From the comfort of your couch, you all heard the call of survivor.”
And with those words, the competitors were thrust into their first challenge.
The First Trials – A Race for Materials and Immunity
This season’s tribes were Vula, Lagi, and Civa, representing the sky, sun, and moon. In these teams, the survivors raced through obstacles to secure materials for their camps. The Lagi tribe won the first challenge, granting Star, Joe, Bianca, Eva, Thomas, and Shauhin an essential advantage early in the game. After, the other two tribes had to battle it out in a second trial, sending one member in for the remaining resources.
It was Kyle and Kevin who faced each other. After a tense battle, Kevin was victorious, securing second place for his tribe.
For Kyle, the defeat was sour, and he reflected, saying, “I felt like a screw-up. I let my tribe down. That sucks.”
Later three tribes participated in their first immunity trial consisting of an obstacle course and a challenging puzzle. In the end, the Vula tribe lost the immunity trial and was the first of the season to head to the tribal council. Stephanie, who had volunteered but failed to make the immunity trial puzzle, faced elimination and became the first of Survivor 48 to be sent home.
