On Saturday, May 6, a mass Texas Mall shooting took place in an outlet mall near Dallas, as reported by CNN. During the attack 15 people, including a 5-year-old, were injured, out of which eight people died. News announced that the gunman died after he was shot by a police officer, AP News notes. “One of our officers was on an unrelated call at the outlet mall. He heard gunshots, went to the gunshots, engaged the suspect, and neutralized the suspect.” Police Chief Brian Harvey said, as he addressed the police intervention, CNN adds.

“Of those that we transported, two have since died. Three are in critical surgery, and four are stable,”  Jonathan Boyd, Fire Chief, said in an official statement.

Several eyewitnesses described what happened during the attack. “I turned around and I saw two ladies rushing towards me, and then one was like ‘Someone’s shooting! Someone’s shooting!’” one man said, as mentioned here.

People shortly engaged in online discussions about the tragedy. Several Redditors expressed their grief and concerns in the comments section of this thread. “Omg how terrifying. People can’t feel safe anymore just going about their daily business.” one user wrote.

“It gets closer every time. Just a few days ago my family and I went shopping here as we usually do, this time for my birthday gifts. The pictures of the fatalities are located where we would usually sit on a nearby bench to take a rest. I can’t process this”, another Redditor commented.
