According to Deadline, the criminal charges against Alec Baldwin following the 2021 fatal shooting will be dropped. As mentioned in the article, two prosecutors, Kari Morrissey, and Jason Lewis are expected to drop the charges of involuntary manslaughter soon.

“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin, and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident,” Baldwin’s lawyers said in a statement for CNN.

However, the charges against ex-armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, are still standing, as mentioned by PageSix. In regards to Gutierrez-Reed’s situation, her two attorneys stated that they expect her charges to be dropped as well. “We fully expect at the end of this process that Hannah will also be exonerated,” the two lawyers, Jason Bowles and Todd Bullion, as noted by CNN.

Alec Baldwin Rust Shooting

Back in 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot on the set of Rust. Alec Baldwin was holding a prop gun that discharged and shot Hutchins in the chest. Two years after the fatal shooting, Alec Baldwin is denying responsibility for the incident and continues pleading not guilty, as mentioned by The New York Post.

The former armor, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is faced with the same charges as Baldwin. However, her representatives are turning down responsibility for what had happened on the movie set. “Hannah is, and has always been, very emotional and sad about this tragic accident. But she did not commit involuntary manslaughter.” her attorney stated.

As noted by CNN, the filming of Rust is set to continue on Thursday.
