Despite Amanda Bynes’ most recent mental episode, her parents are not seeking another conservatorship for their daughter.
Amanda Bynes’ parents, Lynn and Rick, are not planning to place her back in conservatorship, amidst her alleged mental health issues. According to a source close to the family, her parents took comfort in knowing that their actress daughter contacted the police on herself despite going through a mental breakdown.
The episode this past weekend seems to be an anomaly because Bynes was previously believed to be in good mental health and was enrolled in a cosmetology course while living independently.
But Paul Michael, the star’s ex-fiance, told Page Six in an exclusive interview that Bynes had been “off her meds” in the weeks before this weekend’s crisis. He claimed that “She got off her meds, and she’s still off her meds. She’s wild.”
Amanda Bynes’ Psychiatric Hold
According to a report published on Monday, Bynes was put on a psychiatric hold early on Sunday after walking around Los Angeles naked.
The former Nickelodeon star, who has bipolar disorder, reportedly waved down a car without wearing any clothes and informed the driver that she was recovering from a psychotic episode, according to an eyewitness who spoke to TMZ.
Bynes then dialed 911 and was escorted to the police station, where a mental health professional decided she needed to be placed on a 5150 hold, which generally lasts for 72 hours.
The incident occurred almost a year after Bynes was released from her conservatorship, which lasted nearly nine years.
At that time Bynes was “doing very well” and “looking forward” to moving in with Michael when the judge determined the legal arrangement was no longer required.
The ex-couple, who had been spotted together as recently as December 2022, eventually got separated in July 2022 but they are still close friends.
