Benedict Cumberbatch, 46, and his family lived a terrifying experience as an armed man threatened them at their London home, DailyMail notes. According to the article, the person used a knife to threaten the family. Jack Bissell, the armed man, scared the family at the gates of their London residency. “I know you’ve moved here, I hope it burns down,” the man supposedly said.

However, the man did not only threaten Cumberbatch’s family while possessing a knife. He damaged their property, spat at the intercom, and shouted. Before the attack, he had allegedly told a shopkeeper that he would burn down the actor’s house, the outlet adds.

“Naturally all of the family were absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to get in and hurt them. Luckily it never went that far. Benedict and Sophie have had many sleepless nights since worrying that they may be targeted again. The fact that it was a targeted intrusion makes it a lot more scary.” an insider said, as noted by DailyMail.

The attacker was previously arrested in 2015.

Following the attack, Jack Bissell was arrested. The Cumberbatch family was granted a restraining order against the former chef who had been charged a £250 fine. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced earlier this month.
