A masked individual gunned down Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Healthcare outside of his hotel yesterday morning.
CEO Shot in NYC
December 5, 2024- Brian Thompson was on his way to an investor meeting when he was fatally shot multiple times by an unknown suspect.
Thompson was approaching the New York Hilton for a board meeting when he was ambushed by a masked assailant carrying a silenced pistol. He was shot first in the calf then the back when the gun jammed. The assailant then proceeded to calmly unjam the weapon and fire more shots at close range.
Shell casings found near the crime scene were engraved with the words Defy, Defend, and Depose. Police believe this attack was reportedly premeditated due to the level of preparation that seems to have been put in.
CEO Assassination
Following the shooting, the suspect fled by bike effectively evading police. He has yet to be detained.
Scanning footage around the local areas in New York, police have obtained photos of a man believed to be the shooter in question.
NYPD is currently conducting a state-wide manhunt for the shooter.
Tracking the suspect’s movements, a law enforcement official stated that the shooter was seen at a nearby Starbucks. Police released multiple photos of the suspect wearing the same clothes as the ones that were caught on camera during the shooting.
Furthermore, an X user who has been compiling data on all the Citi Bikes which are common in New York City has posted that there are only a limited number of bikes that could be a match to the one used for the shooter’s escape.
The user whose real name is Riley Walz says he reverse-engineered the Lyft app to obtain all of the data from the Citi Bike interface.
CEO Killed in Manhattan
The murder of the CEO has sparked some controversial reactions on the internet. Some users have been anything but sympathetic to the family he left behind and instead have commented in favor of the shooter.

Thompson has left behind a wife and two children. His wife Paulette gave this statement following his death.
“We are shattered to hear about the senseless killing of our beloved Brian. Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives. Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and will be greatly missed. We appreciate your well wishes and request complete privacy as our family moves through this difficult time.”

For now, the killer remains at large. However, NYPD is conducting a massive manhunt searching for him and it will likely be only a matter of time before he is found.
