Joseph Culp (The OG Dr. Doom) Defends Robert Downey Jr. As The New Dr.Doom

August 3rd, 2024 –  The OG Dr.Doom defends Robert Downey Jr.’s casting in the villainous role.

Recently, Marvel announced that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, widely known for his role as Iron Man, made a guest appearance at a recent Comic Con. He was revealed to be the new actor for Dr.Doom, a known villain in the Marvel Universe. The fans in the audience erupted in cheers. Although many fans were receptive and happy to see him again, some fans aren’t convinced RDJ is the best actor for this role.

Some online users argued that he was overused in the movie world and that other actors could have been put in his place. Some fans don’t want to see him in a role that is different from Iron Man. However, one person in particular supported the actor after the criticisms.

Joseph Culp, the original actor of Dr.Doom recently spoke out showing his support for RDJ. Culp said to TMZ, “the trash talk needs to stop … ’cause RDJ was and is the Marvel man!”. “cause the dude is a cinematic chameleon … who’s never phoned it in”. Culp among many fans beileve Robert Downey Jr. taking this role could bring the MCU back from a “flop era”. Many of the current films and TV shows coming from the company haven’t been as succsessful as past projects. So far, Deadpool & Wolverine has been one of Marvel’s most succsussful projects to be released by Marvel in awhile. Fans will have to wait and see of Robert Downey Jr.’s new role will help in the reserection of the MCU.
