Recently, news has been sparked about a Britney Spears biopic. The project would be based on Spears’ 2023 memoir, The Woman In Me. There are currently few details about the project; however, casting options have started to be passed around, one of the main ones being actress Emma Roberts.
Britney’s former longtime assistant, Felicia Culotta, told TMZ she thinks Emma Roberts would be a good casting choice for Spears.” I was like, I love her assistant,” Roberts said in a new interview with Cosmopolitan, reacting to the suggestion. “I mean, it’s my true dream to play Britney Spears. It’s a rumor, but I hope maybe it’ll come true.”. Emma admits she’s a huge Britney fan, saying she locked herself in her room when her 2003 album “In the Zone” came out. She didn’t want to leave until she knew every song by heart. Roberts shared that nowadays, she even sings Spears’ songs to her 3-year-old son Rhodes “in the bath all the time.”. “I’m always like,” God, he must think I’m so weird”That’ss some millennial parenting,” she told Cosmopolitan.
Universal Pictures announced on August 1st that it secured the rights to The Woman in Me after a “highly competitive auction,” according to a press release. The Wicked director Jon M. Chu is set to direct, while Marc Platt will produce. Spears wrote on X on August 1st, “I’m excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned.”. Furthermore, no other word has come out about the project yet. However, many people seem excited about the possibilities.
