You’ll be a favourite by walking into a holiday get together with these healthy apple fritters.

Health Expert Karla Gillis likes to make sure that two important qualities are present when creating a holiday appetizer, “delicious and nutritious”. We don’t have to lose the savory bite to ensure that the ingredients are the best for our bodies. This holiday we can have the best of both worlds. 


¼ cup coconut flour

1/8 arrowroot flour

½ teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 egg

2 tablespoons coconut milk

¼ cup honey

1 medium granny smith or any firm red apple

1 tablespoon liquid coconut oil


Preheat oven to 375 F

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside

In large bowl mix the coconut flour, arrowroot flour, baking powder and cinnamon.

Add egg, honey, and milk and mix to combine

Add apple cubes mix to combine

For each fritter, drop about one tablespoon of batter onto the prepared baking sheet spacing the fritters about 2 inches apart.

Brush each fritter with coconut oil and bake for 15-20 min.

Serve fritters on their own or drizzle with honey.
