As someone with an impressive entertainment background (who started at such a young age), what sparked your initial passion for acting?
When I was younger, I would watch television with my mom all the time, and I remember constantly being amazed by the kids on screen! I found it so fascinating that kids just like me were becoming completely different people on screen, and from there I was hooked.
Talk to us about some of your most notable work to date.
As a relatively green actor in the professional world, my most notable work to date is definitely The Quest. Besides that, I’ve done a lot of small bit parts, but also a lot of theatre. Back in high school, I played the lead role of Gomez Addams in the Addams Family musical, which is probably the most fun I’ve had getting into a character, as well as being the first actor to play the titular role of “The Old Man” in a show called The Old Man and the Old Moon outside of the original cast!
Congrats on landing the lead role of Prince Emmett in the upcoming Disney Plus series The Quest – premiering May 11th. Can you share a little bit about what we can expect to see from this new show?
Try not to expect anything, because those expectations will be surpassed. I don’t think people realize how groundbreaking this series is. It is a real intertwining of regular scripted television and complete immersion of non-actors. You’re going to have to see it to believe it!
When you’re not acting, you’re also passionate about helping the music organization MusiCares as well as The Trevor Project. Can you tell us more about these initiatives and why they’re important to you?
Though I’m primarily an actor, I have a huge passion for making music. MusiCares provides assistance to musicians in need, and I believe anyone following their passion and trying their best to bring good to the world for people to enjoy deserves a bit of help. The Trevor Project focuses on providing assistance to those in the LGBTQ+ community who are struggling and need support. Growing up in a predominantly socially conservative area I witnessed a lot of homophobia and can’t imagine how hard it must be to have to cope with those surroundings, sometimes within your own family. Both organizations focus on helping those in need, and I think anyone deserves a helping hand when they’re down.
